The Sydney Monorail - Railly Monotonous
September 21st 2006 23:59
The monorail is Sydney's most frequented form of public transportation. Right after 1. Buses 2. Trains 3. Ferries 4. The Sydney Explorer 5. That stupid tram thing... ... .... ... ... 30. Razor scooters 31 Greasy bacon gliding conga line....
There are several monorail street entries, the most convenient one probably being the one in the Victoria Galeries. The backwards sign makes it look like NOITATS LIARONO.
There are several benefits of the Sydney monorail. One is that while you ride you hear a voiceover describing the surroundings. "Next stop is Darling Harbour. During the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Darling Harbour was one of the most popular tourist destinations" and such. The best i've ever experienced of this on Sydney buses was some malodourous derelict woman groaning about how her burst piles got infected. That was a colourful day.
The carriages of the Sydney monorail however are like those inward facing bus seats. You may be forced to dislocate some limbs while twelve tourists and their prams squeeze on. But the gliding novelty of just one rail more than compensates! You'll be able to sit back and reflect on those wasted bi-rail trips while you feel the air drying your eyesockets from the ardent air conditioner.
I dumbassedly forgot my camera when I took it on my research mission so I have no inside shots.
Another $4.50? I could buy povo Thai food for that much. I tried passing as an under 5 year old and I was almost clear until I blew my cover by mentioning to the ticket woman my feelings at the time of Diana's death. Damn.
You'll notice you can get a 3 DAY PASS so all your mono-dreams can become 3 day mono-comas.
When was the last time you rode the monorail? Did you love it? Add a comment...

But I don't think it is really necessary as a people mover.
Is a mono dream a dream that monotremes have?

oh yeh and it's really annoying standing under the rail while the mono ... rail ... train ... thing zips by just after it had rained. :x

My parents seemed to enjoy it, though. I think that says something about them...
