Australian Idol Top 125 Toppling Over
August 20th 2006 13:53
“My life plays out like a movie” said hopeful hopeful Melanie Whittey to the Idol Judges. “This is meant to be the happy ending.”
125 singers remained. Some sang brilliantly while some sang like remains. After arriving, Mark gathered the eager chanteurs and chanteuses and told them that 25 of them would be repacking their lemon tea and “Karaoke Sing Stars” straight away. This seemed to fill the idols with talentless butterflies as nerves got the better of some contestants. "Just breathe girlfriend" advised Dr Hines.
The group performances of the next round provided fantastic drama. For every wet blanket there were several electric ones to power the competition. Some contestants sang like dogs in heat, others sang like Aretha incognito. One contestant, Jorge Bec, 30, especially fit the “dog in heat” category as he was a massive bitch. Before the group performance, he cracked under the pressure nearly spilling the fluid of whingeing failure on teammates Paul Dunn and Ricky Muscat. Marcia hated their duo performance but let them through... for some reason. Other performances were a much more impressive blend of resonant harmonies and emanating hormones.
The group performances were especially successful in filtering the Hi-5s from the Hooley-Dooleys. Those who overlooked the dot point of "must work well with others" in the Idol rubric received a stare down from Mother Africa and a firm booting. Fortunately, the shine of real talent breached even Kyle’s disproportioned cranium and the best (and those with the most reality tv story potential) will sing for their semi-final supper tonight.
It's too bad Jorge won't be there. He'll be missed, as much as someone can miss a 30 year-old over-tanned metrosexual who talks in third person. Melanie Whittley’s movie is still rolling so we’ll see if that’s glitter on the road ahead, or just Glitter.
Why can't they remember the lyrics to ONE song? Add a comment..

I'm happy that Jessica got through though... I went to the same high school as her when I was in Darwin hehe... I hope she makes it all the way.
